Villa d’Este is located on the shores of the most romantic lake in the world, Lake Como. Surrounded by 25 acres of enchanting grounds, the villa was built in 1568 as the summer residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio and converted into a luxury hotel in 1873. It quickly became the destination of choice for European aristocracy experiencing the Grand Tour. Today Villa d’Este is celebrated all around the world. It is a destination in itself, the definition of tradition and the embodiment of a legend. The 151 rooms, divided between the Cardinal Building and the Queen’s Pavilion, are all unique. Each is furnished with antique Renaissance-style furniture and equipped with all modern comforts. The four private villas, set in the gardens, blend the full range of hotel services with discretion, privacy and exclusivity. Villa d’Este also features an elegant selection of restaurants and bars: the Veranda for a more formal ambience and world-class dining or the Grill for a more relaxed atmosphere. In addition, guests can enjoy the beauty center, replete with spa treatment rooms, a sauna, steam bath, indoor swimming pool and fitness facilities, along with tennis and squash courts, and even running trails. The famous heated floating pool on the lake was the first for the history books.

Dining
Veranda
Located in the Cardinal’s Building, the Veranda restaurant offers sweeping views of the lake, the gardens, and the Mosaic. The retractable glass walls stay open during summer, and, weather permitting, guests may dine on the lakeside terrace. The cuisine is contemporary yet deeply rooted in Italian tradition, with a cosmopolitan spirit.
Grill
A short stroll from the Queen’s Pavilion, the Grill welcomes guests in a casually elegant and convivial atmosphere. The spotlight is on grilled meats and timeless seafood dishes. In the summer months, dinner is served in the garden under the shade of century-old trees, with a magical view of the lake. Grill restaurant is open from April to the end of October. To preserve the charm and elegance of Villa d’Este, we kindly ask our guests to follow a specific dress code. At the Grill restaurant, smart casual is required. Gentlemen are asked to wear a jacket, long trousers and closed-toe shoes for dinner.
Il Platano
The Platano reveals an updated aesthetic aimed at evoking the essence of authentic Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine, blending with subtle nuances and influences from across the globe.
Sundeck
Adjacent to the floating pool, the Sundeck is a superb place for a light lunch or a snack paired with an exquisitely made cocktail in the warmer months.

These stylish accommodations are located at the top floor of the Cardinal Building, all with lake view. The rooms can have one king bed or twin beds. It is the perfect choice to enjoy the charm of Villa d'Este. Furbished with unique and antique furniture, precious fabrics and silks from the Como area. Presidential Suite
Cardinal Suite
The Cardinal Suite is named after Tolomeo Gallio, who built the Villa in 1568 as his private residence. It's located on the first floor in the Cardinal Building and combines the utmost refinement of a private residence with all the comforts. The large private front terrace offers a unique and lovely view over what is considered the most romantic Lake in the world. Average size: 1162 sf, plus 968 sf terrace.
The Mosaic House
Set in one of the most spectacular spots of the Villa d'Este grounds, within the iconic mosaic garden and its Nymphaeum stands the Mosaic House. Recently restored, with access from its own private courtyard, it comprises 90 sqm of living space: a lounge area including a fully equipped kitchen, a one-bedroom suite, a spacious marble bathroom, en-suite closet and a guest bathroom. The current design complements the traditional harmonic features of the lake with light paint shades and flower themed fabrics used throughout. An intimate and private stay yet with all the comforts offered by Villa d'Este and the hotel's renowned 5 star-service.
Villa Malakoff
Built in 1860, Villa Malakoff stands on a small hill within the grounds of Villa d’Este and is located only few steps away from the Cardinal Building and the banks of Lake Como. Its 300 square meters (3,200 square feet) are equally distributed over three floors, featuring a living room with a terrace which offers a splendid views of the lake, a dining room, a fully-equipped kitchen, laundry room and four bedrooms. Each bedroom is tastefully and luxuriously appointed and offers an en-suite dressing room and a marble bathroom. Two rooms of the Villa have a fix large bed and a private balcony facing the lake, the other two rooms, offer a king size or twin beds facing the hotel gardens. The Villa has an elevator, air conditioning, satellite LCD TV, complimentary WiFi and can accommodate up to 8 people and it is not possible to add extra beds.
Villa Cima
Standing on the banks of the Lake and few steps away from the Cardinal Building, Villa Cima was built on the grounds of Villa d’Este in 1814 by Caroline of Brunswick, Princess of Wales and future Queen of England. Its 650 square meters (7,000 square feet) are distributed on the three floors of the residence and feature a living room with a terrace, a dining room, a fully-equipped kitchen, laundry room and four bedrooms. Luxurious décor is the keynote for the sleeping quarters, each filled with antiques and art, private marble bathroom, balcony or terrace with a breathtaking view of the Lake and either a king size or twin beds. The Villa has air conditioning, satellite LCD TV, complimentary WiFi and can accommodate up to 8 people and it is possible to add n.02 extra beds. On the terrace of Villa Cima, guests can dine or simply enjoy the beauty of the lake with family and friends.
Villa Garrovo
Built in 1833 and completely refurbished in 2015, Villa Garrovo is located just a few steps away from the Cardinal Building, in the hotel's garden, and features both garden and lake views. Spread over 700 sqm (7535 sq. ft.), and three floors, the villa offers a stunningly beautiful and spacious living room with big windows facing out over the lake, a fully equipped kitchen, 6 bedrooms (3 bedrooms with a large bed and 3 bedrooms with a king size or twin beds) with en-suite marble bathrooms and a multi-functional room (gym and relaxing room. It is the ideal place for families and friends looking for a private home away from home yet with all comforts offered by the Villa d'Este and for very exclusive high-end stays. The Villa has air conditioning, satellite LCD TV, complimentary WI-FI; it can accommodate up to 12 people and it is not possible to add extra beds. It also offers a bright veranda, which opens onto the hidden garden where guests can relax and find intimacy, a terrace with a large patio (60 square meters / 640 square feet) and two private parking lots.
