  1. Day 1

    Baltra Island, Ecuador

Baltra is less a destination than the gateway to the Galápagos—and that is precisely its appeal. From the airport or cruise pier, cross the Itabaca Channel by ferry to Santa Cruz. There, giant tortoises, volcanic terrain and Darwin’s legacy reward the first steps ashore. Baltra itself is spare and sun-baked, shaped by its airfield and wartime past. Think of it as the threshold: the wildlife-rich islands begin just beyond.

  2. Day 2

    North Seymour Island, Ecuador

Step ashore at Seymour, the gateway to the Galápagos, where wildlife is the main event. Baltra’s arid landscape sets a stark first impression. Nearby North Seymour brings blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds and land iguanas into view on guided walks. Most visitors cross the Itabaca Channel by ferry, then travel by road to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. Reserve time for an excursion; access to many sites is carefully regulated.

  3. Day 3

    Rábida Island, Ecuador

Rábida is one of the Galápagos’ most distinctive landfalls, with a red beach colored by iron-rich volcanic rock. Sea lions often rest at the water’s edge, while brown pelicans and marine iguanas patrol the shore. A short trail leads through cactus and palo santo to a saltwater lagoon, where flamingos may feed. The island’s compact scale makes its contrasts easy to appreciate, on foot and from the water.

  4. Day 4

    Pinzón Island, Ecuador

Pinzón Island lies in the heart of the Galápagos, a short boat ride west of Santa Cruz. This uninhabited volcanic island is known less for beaches than for the wildlife-rich waters around it. Most visits focus on snorkeling, where sea turtles, reef fish and sea lions may appear among the rocks. Landing is not permitted, so bring your attention to the water: here, the encounter is the destination.

  5. Day 5

    Marchena Island, Ecuador

Marchena lies in the northern Galápagos, a stark volcanic island seldom seen by visitors. Its shield volcano and dark lava fields reveal the forces that formed the archipelago. There are no authorised visitor landing sites. Appreciate the island from the water, with seabirds circling above its rugged coast. This is a rare glimpse of Galápagos wilderness, far from settlements and familiar trails.

  6. Day 6

    Bartolomé Island, Ecuador

Bartolomé is one of the Galápagos’ most striking volcanic landscapes, a small island shaped by lava, ash and time. A steep trail of wooden steps leads to the summit. Its view takes in Pinnacle Rock, Santiago Island and the archipelago’s blue bays. Below, two pale beaches invite a swim or snorkel, where sea turtles, reef sharks and Galápagos penguins may appear. Come to walk, swim and watch wildlife; Bartolomé has no town or shops.

  7. Day 7

    Santa Cru Island, Ecuador

Santa Cruz is the Galápagos’ busiest inhabited island, and Puerto Ayora is its principal town. Puerto Ayora’s waterfront has cafés, shops and a fish market frequented by sea lions and pelicans. At the Charles Darwin Research Station, exhibits introduce conservation work and the Galápagos’ giant tortoises. A guided trip into the highlands reveals lava tunnels, farms and wild tortoises grazing in pastures. Cruise ships anchor offshore; tenders bring passengers to town.

  8. Day 8
