  1. Day 1

    Bergen, Norway

Set between seven mountains and the North Sea, Bergen makes a graceful introduction to Norway’s western fjords. Its handsome harbour, Bryggen’s timber wharf and the fish market sit close together, easily explored on foot. Ride the Fløibanen funicular for a clear view across the city and islands, then linger over fresh seafood. Bergen is compact, cultured and an ideal place to begin a journey into fjord country.

  2. Day 2

    Alesund, Norway

Ålesund makes an immediate impression: its waterfront is lined with Art Nouveau buildings, rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904. Beyond the elegant façades, this is a working Norwegian port framed by islands and steep mountain peaks. Climb the 418 steps to Mount Aksla for a sweeping view across the town and Sunnmøre Alps. Then visit the Atlantic Sea-Park, one of Northern Europe’s largest saltwater aquariums.

  3. Day 2

    Molde, Norway

Molde sits on the Romsdalsfjord, with a mountain panorama that has earned it the name City of Roses. From Varden viewpoint, 222 peaks rise across the fjord, creating one of Norway’s most memorable coastal vistas. Explore the waterfront and compact centre, then visit the Romsdal Museum, where historic buildings illuminate regional life. In July, Moldejazz fills the town with performances and a lively festival atmosphere. Beyond town, the Atlantic Ocean Road offers a memorable excursion across bridges and islands.

  4. Day 3

    Trondheim, Norway

Trondheim rewards a shore day on foot, from its harbour to Norway’s most important medieval cathedral. Founded in 997, it grew around Nidaros Cathedral, Norway’s national shrine above Saint Olaf’s tomb. Cross the Old Town Bridge into Bakklandet, where timber warehouses and cafés line the Nidelva River. Continue along the waterfront for museums, shops and restaurants, with fjord views nearby. Its compact centre makes the city’s history and waterfront easy to explore in one day.

  5. Day 3

    Rorvik, Norway

Rørvik reveals Norway’s working coast, where fishing boats and ferries share a sheltered harbor. From Inner-Vikna in Trøndelag, explore Vikna’s archipelago of more than 6,000 islands and skerries. Norveg’s striking, sail-like building houses a coastal museum devoted to lives shaped by the sea. Its exhibitions offer a thoughtful introduction before you discover the harbor and surrounding islands.

  6. Day 4

    Ornes, Norway

Ørnes is a compact coastal town in Meløy, on Norway’s Helgeland coast, where the sea sets the pace. The Hurtigruten coastal express calls here, bringing you close to islands, steep peaks and working harbours. Nearby Svartisen, Norway’s second-largest glacier, rewards an excursion; its Engabreen outlet is reached from Holandsfjord. Explore the waterfront, then look outward: this is a port made for wide views.

  7. Day 4

    Bodo, Norway

Bodø lies above the Arctic Circle, where sea, mountain and shifting light set the scene. Visit in summer for the midnight sun, or in winter for a chance to see the northern lights. About 30 kilometres away, Saltstraumen is famed for its powerful tidal currents. Ferries cross Vestfjord to the Lofoten Islands. Back in town, the Norwegian Aviation Museum explores the history of civil and military flight in Norway.

  8. Day 4

    Stamsund, Norway

Stamsund is a working fishing village on Vestvågøy in Norway’s Lofoten Islands. The harbour is lined with boats and traditional red rorbuer, once fishermen’s cabins and now used by visitors. Steep peaks rise close above the sea, while the light shifts across the fjord. Stamsund is also a call on the Hurtigruten coastal route. Use it as a base for Vestvågøy’s beaches, fishing villages and mountain walks.

  9. Day 4

    Svolvaer, Norway

Svolvær is the lively heart of the Lofoten Islands, where jagged peaks rise straight from the harbour. Step ashore to find fishing boats, waterfront galleries and cafés serving local seafood. The town is a useful base for exploring the islands’ fishing villages and Arctic scenery. In summer, take a boat trip to Trollfjord; in winter, look skyward for the northern lights. Above town, the twin pinnacles of Svolværgeita define the skyline.
