  1. Day 1

    Jacksonville, USA

Jacksonville rewards travelers who look beyond its name on the map. The St. Johns River threads through a city of distinct neighborhoods, while Atlantic beaches lie a short drive east. In Riverside, oak-shaded streets lead to the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. On Fort George Island, Kingsley Plantation offers a sobering encounter with Florida’s past. Come with a plan, then leave time to wander.

  2. Day 3

    Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas

Great Stirrup Cay is Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island in the Berry Islands of the Bahamas. Expect pale sand, clear water and a relaxed beach day. Swim from shore, snorkel over coral, or take a kayak along the coast. Beach cabanas provide shade and privacy, while the island’s compact size makes it easy to find your place. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, then choose between a quiet patch of sand and time on the water.

  3. Day 10

    Horta, Portugal

Horta sits on Faial, one of Portugal’s Azores, with Pico’s volcanic peak rising across the channel. Its marina is a landmark for Atlantic sailors, whose painted messages cover the breakwater. On shore, Peter Café Sport has welcomed generations of visiting crews. The nearby Scrimshaw Museum displays carved whale teeth and bones. Beyond town, drive to Capelinhos, where a 1957–58 eruption reshaped the coast, or walk the rim of Faial’s vast Caldeira.

  4. Day 11

    Ponta Delgada, Portugal

Ponta Delgada is the Azores’ Atlantic gateway, set on São Miguel, the archipelago’s largest island. Roads from the city lead to crater lakes, steaming fumaroles and the green caldera of Sete Cidades. In town, tiled churches and handsome squares reward an unhurried walk, while cafés serve local cheese and pineapple. Choose a scenic island drive, or explore the historic centre before returning to the waterfront.

  5. Day 13

    Funchal, Portugal

Funchal sits in a broad, sunlit amphitheatre above Madeira’s deep Atlantic harbour. Its compact centre rewards exploration, from the Old Town’s painted doors to the cathedral’s carved cedar ceiling. Ride the cable car uphill to Monte for sweeping views, then descend through gardens or by traditional wicker toboggan. Madeira’s wines and market produce offer a taste of the island before your ship sails.

  6. Day 15

    Portimao, Portugal

Portimão sits where the Arade River meets the Atlantic, in Portugal’s sunlit Algarve. From the quay, Praia da Rocha’s ochre cliffs and broad sands are close at hand. In the old town, tiled façades and cafés frame the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição. Choose fresh sardines at the waterfront, or cross the river to Ferragudo for a quieter village view. Portimão makes an easy base for exploring the Algarve’s coast without sacrificing a genuine working-town feel.

  7. Day 16

    Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is a city best approached with time and comfortable shoes. Its seven hills rise above the Tagus, linking tiled lanes, grand squares and viewpoints with wide river views. In Alfama, narrow streets preserve the feel of old Lisbon. In Belém, the Jerónimos Monastery and Tower recall Portugal’s age of discovery. Pause for coffee and a warm pastel de nata between sights.
