  1. Day 1

    Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is best explored at street level, where royal history meets modern design. At Nyhavn, colorful harbor-front houses frame canal tours; nearby Amalienborg Palace is the monarch’s winter residence. Christiansborg Palace combines Denmark’s parliament with historic royal rooms, while Christianshavn’s canals reveal a quieter side. Pause for smørrebrød, the open-faced rye-bread staple, and explore the city’s design shops before returning to port.

  2. Day 2

    Sea Cruising (Sea Cruising)

  3. Day 3

    Bergen, Norway

Set between seven mountains and the North Sea, Bergen makes a graceful introduction to Norway’s western fjords. Its handsome harbour, Bryggen’s timber wharf and the fish market sit close together, easily explored on foot. Ride the Fløibanen funicular for a clear view across the city and islands, then linger over fresh seafood. Bergen is compact, cultured and an ideal place to begin a journey into fjord country.

  4. Day 4

    Alesund, Norway

Ålesund makes an immediate impression: its waterfront is lined with Art Nouveau buildings, rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904. Beyond the elegant façades, this is a working Norwegian port framed by islands and steep mountain peaks. Climb the 418 steps to Mount Aksla for a sweeping view across the town and Sunnmøre Alps. Then visit the Atlantic Sea-Park, one of Northern Europe’s largest saltwater aquariums.

  5. Day 5

    Coastal Cruising (Coastal Cruising)

  6. Day 6

    Narvik, Norway

Narvik occupies a striking position on Ofotfjord, where steep mountains rise directly from the water. Built to carry iron ore from Sweden’s mines, the Ofoten Railway now offers a memorable journey through mountain country. Narvik’s wartime story is equally present, with museums and surviving sites recalling the 1940 battles. Come for fjord scenery, rail history and a northern town shaped by both.

  7. Day 7

    Svolvaer, Norway

Svolvær is the lively heart of the Lofoten Islands, where jagged peaks rise straight from the harbour. Step ashore to find fishing boats, waterfront galleries and cafés serving local seafood. The town is a useful base for exploring the islands’ fishing villages and Arctic scenery. In summer, take a boat trip to Trollfjord; in winter, look skyward for the northern lights. Above town, the twin pinnacles of Svolværgeita define the skyline.

  8. Day 7

    Stokmarknes, Norway

Stokmarknes sits on Hadseløya in Vesterålen, where mountains rise above sheltered northern waters. It is the birthplace of Norway’s coastal express, launched here by Richard With in 1893. At the Hurtigruten Museum, the preserved 1956 ship MS Finnmarken stands inside a glass structure. Walk the compact waterfront, then look beyond town to the islands and open sea that shaped its seafaring life.

  9. Day 8

    Alta, Norway

Alta is a small town in Norway’s far north, set at the head of Altafjord. Its position beneath the auroral oval draws winter visitors hoping to see the northern lights. At the Alta Museum, UNESCO-listed rock art offers a glimpse of life here as far back as 7,000 years ago. In summer, long daylight opens the Finnmark plateau to walks and scenic drives. Sámi traditions, including reindeer husbandry, shape the wider region.

  10. Day 10

    Honningsvag, Norway

Honningsvåg sits on Magerøya, above the Arctic Circle, where fishing boats share the harbour with expedition ships. From here, a road crosses open tundra to the North Cape plateau, about 35 kilometres away. At 71° north, the light becomes the main event: midnight sun in summer, polar night in winter. Walk the small town, then seek king crab, coastal views and stories of life near Europe’s edge.

  11. Days 11–12

    Tromso, Norway

Tromsø puts the Arctic within easy reach, yet its cafés, galleries and university give the city a lively, modern pulse. Set on an island above the Arctic Circle, it is linked to the mainland by a bridge and tunnel. Visit the Polar Museum and the Arctic Cathedral. Ride the Fjellheisen cable car for views across mountains and sea. In winter, the northern lights may appear overhead.
