  1. Day 1

    Dover

Dover is a working Channel port, but its appeal begins before you leave the harbour. Above the waterfront, Dover Castle has watched over the Strait for centuries, with Roman, medieval and wartime history to explore. Walk the clifftop paths for views across the water. At Fan Bay, explore a wartime tunnel complex cut into the chalk. Inland, Canterbury offers a celebrated cathedral and a compact old centre.

  2. Day 3

    Newcastle upon Tyne

Your ship docks at the Port of Tyne, in North Shields, about eight miles from Newcastle’s centre. Newcastle’s story unfolds along the river, beneath its famous bridges. The medieval castle gave the city its name. Walk the Quayside for riverside views, then explore the compact historic centre. Hadrian’s Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies within reach for an excursion into Roman Britain. Nearby Tynemouth offers a broad beach, a ruined priory and a change of pace.

  3. Day 4

    Dundee

Dundee brings Scotland’s design, maritime and industrial history to the banks of the River Tay. At V&A Dundee, striking architecture houses exhibitions celebrating Scottish creativity and design from around the world. Nearby, Discovery Point tells the story of Captain Scott’s Antarctic ship, RRS Discovery. Explore the waterfront and historic streets, or make a day trip to St Andrews or the Angus coast.

  4. Day 5

    Aberdeen

Aberdeen’s grey granite catches the light, giving Scotland’s northeast city a character all its own. The Aberdeen Maritime Museum traces how shipbuilding, fishing and North Sea oil shaped the city. Old Aberdeen is a handsome quarter of cobbled lanes and historic buildings. At King’s College, founded in 1495, the crown tower and chapel offer a striking glimpse of Scotland’s university heritage.

  5. Day 7

    Torshavn

Tórshavn is one of the world’s smallest capitals, yet it offers a revealing introduction to the Faroe Islands. Begin at Tinganes, where red-painted timber buildings cluster on a narrow headland beside the harbor. The Løgting, the Faroese parliament, meets nearby, continuing a political tradition rooted in the islands’ Norse past. In the compact center, cafés, shops and museums offer an easy pause before the Atlantic’s open horizons reclaim your attention.

  6. Day 9

    Seydisfjordur, Iceland

Seyðisfjörður sits at the end of a deep fjord, framed by steep mountains and waterfalls. Its colorful wooden houses and blue church give the small town a character unlike Iceland’s larger ports. Walk the rainbow-painted street, visit the Skaftfell arts centre, or follow trails toward nearby cascades. The road over Fjarðarheiði offers wide views, though weather can change quickly. Here, East Iceland feels close, quiet, and distinctly local.

  7. Day 10

    Akureyri, Iceland

Akureyri sits at the head of Eyjafjörður, Iceland’s longest fjord, with mountains rising beyond its compact harbour. Walk uphill to Akureyrarkirkja, then browse cafés and shops along Hafnarstræti. The town’s botanical garden grows thousands of plant varieties despite its northern latitude. From the waterfront, boats head out to watch whales. Road trips reach Goðafoss and the volcanic landscapes around Lake Mývatn. Akureyri rewards a day spent both in town and beyond.

  8. Day 11

    Isafjordur, Iceland

Ísafjörður is the Westfjords’ principal town, set between a sheltered harbor and steep, often snow-streaked mountains. Walk its compact center to see colorful timber houses, then visit the Westfjords Heritage Museum in the historic harbor district. Its exhibits trace the fishing trade that shaped life along Iceland’s remote western coast. Beyond town, dramatic fjord scenery unfolds along winding roads. With a full day ashore, consider the drive to Dynjandi, one of the region’s most striking waterfalls.

  9. Day 12

    Grundarfjordur, Iceland

Grundarfjörður sits on the north shore of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, a fishing village beneath steep mountains. Its signature sight is Kirkjufell, a 463-metre peak shaped like an arrowhead. Walk or drive to Kirkjufellsfoss, where cascades frame the mountain. Further west, Snæfellsjökull glacier crowns a volcano and the national park around it. Weather changes quickly here, so bring warm, waterproof layers. Come for scale, silence and light.

  10. Day 13

    Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavík is a capital with one foot in the wild. The Atlantic frames the city, volcanic mountains rise on the horizon, and geothermal water warms its pools. Start at Hallgrímskirkja, whose tower commands broad views, then walk down to the harbor and Harpa concert hall. Cafés, design shops, and museums make the compact center easy to explore on foot. Beyond town, geysers and waterfalls make a striking day trip; return for a soak in a neighborhood pool.
